Jay Alexander - Bad Dreams Lyrics

I look at what I've done
It seems so empty
But maybe I'll wake up
From all these bad dreams

I don't know how to remedy this mindset
I don't know how to kill all of this regret
I don't know what the f*ck you want me to do
When it seems that I'm wrong in everything that I do
It seems to me as though I'm talking in hieroglyphs
I don't have a clue how to explain without expletives
F*ck, shit, I can't breathe
Suck, it up, and just come see
The beautiful light shining at the end of the passageway
It illuminates what at a distance looks like a tapestry
It's a painting of everything right that I've ever done
And I look upon with surprise as it looks bright as the sun
I could have sworn, all my life I've been a f*ck up
And I just got mad when people told me to just buck up
But now I see that not everything is lost
And now I see that it was all worth the cost

I look at what I've done
It seems so empty
But maybe I'll wake up
From all these bad dreams

Maybe I'll wake up one day, but if I don't
I should take a pen and pad and write a note
So to anyone reading this, I'm still trapped below
I am still swimming silently beneath the undertow
But you don't have to worry about me, I am perfectly fine
I don't need to be fished out, don't give me a line
'Cause I'm tired of all the fake friends you find online
Say they're here stay, don't be so blind
There are very few and only a few are worth it
And you gotta find them through years of searching
It may or may not be worth the time you take
But if the family comes together, it can feel so great
I have mine, a family stronger than any bio
Revolving all around of one another like Io
And we are inseparable, trust me, I know
When one of us are down, we're all just a stone's throw

I look at what I've done
It seems so empty
But maybe I'll wake up
From all these bad dreams
