There's a young woman running through the streets
Gathering people like flies to her as she goes
Then she flings herself down on her knees
Before a man saying "You're too late, you're too late, you're too late for me"
If you had been here he wouldn't have died
If you had been here he would still be alive
Oh the tears I have cried
If you had been here he'd still be alive
And if you had been here he would be by my side
Oh the tears I have cried
The young man looked at her and said
"Take me to the place where you have laid my friend"
They said, "We'll take you there
Come and see"
And then he wept
"If I had been here you wouldn't have died
But if I had been here you would still be alive
Oh the tears I have cried
If I had been here you wouldn't have died
But if I had been here who would be glorified
Oh the tears I have cried."
So they went down to the place where he was laid
And the man said "Roll that stone away"
Then he walked forward and he said,
"Lazarus! Come out!"
"Lazarus! Come out!"
"If I had been here you wouldn't have died
But if I had been here who would be glorified
Oh the tears I have cried.
Lazarus! Come out!"
