Venus she rises
Venus she rises
Jupiter has kissed her sleepy eyes
Awaking her to light the southern skies
And you know she knows the answers and you sigh
And you sigh
There's a lady on the landing in the middle of the night
She's holding out her candle to the king
But the king he doesn't see her, doesn't even see her light
So the candle slowly burns and surely dies
Venus she rises
Venus she rises
Jupiter has kissed her sleepy eyes
Awaking her to light the southern skies
And you know she knows the answers and you sigh
And you sigh
Now the king is on the landing with his candle burning bright
Venus twinkles softly in the sky
And the lady sees the starlight and the candle's warming light
But the king has long past faded in the night
Venus she rises
Venus she rises
Jupiter has kissed her sleepy eyes
Awaking her to light the southern skies
And you know she knows the answers and you sigh
And you sigh
Now the king has lost his candle and he's also lost his queen
He asks himself the question - who's to blame?
But he looks without for answers to a question from within
For you see the queen can be a candle or a flame
Venus she rises
Venus she rises
Jupiter has kissed her sleepy eyes
Awaking her to light the southern skies
And you know she knows the answers and you sigh
And you sigh
