[ Featuring Hannah Wyatt ]
Like an old wooden ship
This house bends and it bows
The branches they scratch
Everytime that it blows
They write down the stories
The wind says it knows
Through the walls we listen and lie
April's in back
Laying down with the kids
I can hear the storm coming
From up on the ridge
And the baseball game crackles
On top of the fridge
Every time that the lightning strikes close
It don't take much
To call a place home
Just my family, this guitar
A river to roam
And the rain
To settle me down
When the storm hits the creek
It'll crest and recede
Then the banks ask the water
How much space do you need
It's the oldest damn question
But I've come to believe
That its one worth my time to find out
So let's forget our debts
Make our tresspasses known
As we lay down together
Under blankets we've sewn
I've learned how to love
Without feeling alone
But it's a lesson I'm sure to forget
It don't take much
To call a thing right
But the truth lies in secrets
We tell in the night
And the rain
To wash them all clean
Watch the fir and the cedars collide
As they wrap 'round each other
Under temptuous skies
In the morning I'll make up a fire
And we'll burn
What the night left behind
Like an old wooden ship
This house bends and it bows
The branches they scratch
Every time that it blows
They write down the stories
The wind says it knows
And through the walls we listen and lie
