Jim Staley - Pint for a Tune Lyrics

Jim Staley - Pint for a Tune Lyrics

As I was rovin' out one evening, a quaint old bar I chanced to see
I went inside to quench my thirst when a RiRa barman spoke to me
I see you've got a guitar there stranget, A fine guitar it's plain to see
What would it take to get you playin', Hop on the barstool and play for me

I said a Pint for a Tune is what I'm wantin', Pint for a Tune is what I need
Tune for a Pint is what I got, so gather round and listen to me

The barman's name it was Cyril, he poured me up a fine looking pint
I said this place is missing something, you need music in this joint
Started out with the "Irish Rover" about a ship sailin' to New York
Cyril and the lads were singin' with me, next came the "Boys from the County Cork"

I said a Pint for a Tune is what I'm wantin', Pint for a Tune is what I need
Tune for a Pint is what I got, so gather round and listen to me

Cyril I said do you know this one, It's called "The Man from the Daily Mail"
He said no, but I'm sure you'll play it... Here's your Guiness and Patrick's ale

Then he served us a "Brain Hemorrhage", I'm not sure what was in it
Down it went now listen to me...

I said a Pint for a Tune is what I'm wantin', Pint for a Tune is what I need
Tune for a Pint is what I got, so gather round and listen to me

All night long the stout was flowin', a couple of shots of "Redbreast" too
All night long we kept on sining' ever song that we all knew
Sang a song of "Kevin Barry", sang a song of Timothy's Wake
Sang and drank in a pub called RiRa, plenty of Craq for goodness sake

I said a Pint for a Tune is what I'm wantin', Pint for a Tune is what I need
Tune for a Pint is what you'll get, so gather round and listen to me
Gather round and listen to me
