Steel columns in the sky
Temple of progress passed on by
Cold winds through old hearts of fire
Worn down, worn out, shattered, tired
Spider webs of wheel-less rails
Cross the city side to side
They said it'd last a thousand years
We all assume they must have lied
And no one calls me down to pray
And no one shoves me out the way
No one sends me down to do my time
Nothing to buy and no one to pay
This city has seen better days
The waste of time to build it was a crime
No life blood moving in these veins
Things living in the drains
Shells of people gone insane
Flat-lined city built in vane
More lamps than souls out in the night
Power still on but blown out lights
Water still flows but the taps aren't bright
Way past dying but still just alive
And no one calls me down to pray
And no one shoves me out the way
No one sends me down to do my time
Nothing to buy and no one to pay
This city has seen better days
The waste of time to build it was a crime
Out on the streets, days without meeting
Another living soul might be our worst fear
Run out of all hope, money for old rope
But is selling your only noose the best idea?
And no one calls me down to pray
And no one shoves me out the way
No one sends me down to do my time
Nothing to buy and no one to pay
This city has seen better days
The waste of time to build it was a crime
