I was drivin' late last night toward the production line
A small sacrifice to make, puttin' in my time
I know it's not the kind of thing you dream of as a child
But it's enough to get us by at least for a little while
I've always been chasin' down some kind of mystery
Like something got caught in my head that I saw in a dream
I never could find much room for all those kinds of thoughts
So I put 'em all away as I pull into the parking lot
Now, I drive out here every night
Got my family back at home
Still tryin' to find a better plan before the kids are grown
But when the grind is wearin' down I get too tired to pretend
I drive home in the morning
Start it all over again
