I'm a single mom here for just one thing
To provide for my kids despite violence
Never thought we'd shed tears that gas bombs bring
Turning innocent laughter to silence
We are human like them, but they're wary
Though we're sad, and we're scared, we don't seem right
I cry out my namesake, Mother Mary
Grab my kids, drag them far from this dog fight
With this gas in the air, we may all die
I pray God will protect each dear baby
If the borders close, I'll pray to heaven high
Other lands, instead of "No," whisper "Maybe"
Let us in, this lone mother with daughters
To rinse suffering tears in fresh waters
