Today, they have everything, world's in their hands
But back in the 70s and 80s, life had less demands
We looked at each other face to face
No social media, life at a slower pace
We built real bonds, we didn't stay apart
Now it's all screens, it's all state of the art
Back in the day, we hit the streets, sun up to down
Now kids are glued to screens day in and day out
We built forts and raced bikes in the park
Now it's all about posting, and social media's remarks
We talked face to face, only way to interact
Now it's all texts and DMs, not a word spoken, a sad fact
We used our heads, figured things out on our own
Now they got Alexa and Siri, always on loan
We learned the hard way, made mistakes, our knowledge grew
Now they get instant answers, never learning, searching new
How much more will they miss, simple things best things in life
Tradin' real experiences for pixels and screens ain't right
Today, they have everything, world's in their hands
But back in the 70s and 80s, life had less demands
We looked at each other face to face
No social media, life at a slower pace
We built real bonds, we didn't stay apart
Now it's all screens, it's all state of the art
We played outside 'til the streetlights came on
Now they're indoors, playin' games all night long
If the president spoke, every channel was on his speech
These kids can't imagine that happening, Beyond belief
We had to wait for our favorite shows
Now they binge-watch, pick and choose
We chilled outside played games with the crew
Now they scroll through feeds, always looking for something new
We learned life lessons, the hard way, no doubt
Now they get quick fixes, what it's all about
How much more will they miss, this simpler life?
Traded real experiences for the digital strife
We had a rotary phone, no caller ID
No voicemai, no call waiting, a mystery, you see
We didn't know who was calling, till we picked up the phone
Now they have caller ID, no longer unknown
No remote controls, had to get up to change the channel
Sometimes had to adjust the rabbit ears, to get a better signal
No video games, no tablets, no apps on the phone
Just simple toys and playing outside, kids played on their own
We found joy in the simple things, you see
Now it's all about likes and popularity
We used to memorize phone numbers, every single one
Now it's all saved in the phone, on the cloud so easily done
We wrote letters by hand, with care and with thought
Now it's just texts and emails, easily sent but no heart
Forgotten the joy of life's simple things God given
We miss the days of human connection, the reminiscing
Technology is here, it won't go away
It'll continue to evolve every day
But it saddens me to see what this generation will never know
The simpler life, where connections used to grow. You can never go back, this is true
The simple things in life are fading from view
Simple things in life are fading from view
