If you've ever been out in the wild
The mind tries to get you back into a space
More known and comfortable to your body
Then when the sun sets
Allowing darkness to merge with the light of day
It happens so secretly that even when you notice
It goes unnoticed
Like looking in the mirror to see a reflection
And wondering if you've been judged by what you like
Or the perception of what society has made you accustomed to believe in
I was left to understand the perplexity of my thoughts moving so slow
Like a canoe forging its way up the river
Even as the road less travel was open for whomever
Then why in these times we continue to suffer
