I keep opinions close to the vest
Hard to talk when you're holding breath
Waiting to see what will happen next
Feel the tightness building in my chest

Maybe I should just play along?
Or keep my head down though I know it's wrong?
Lie to myself about what's going on
Ignore the facts and i pretend I'm strong

Doing everything they tell me to
Just to keep them from learning the truth
I don't believe in all the things they do
Though my silence says I tacitly approve

Of all the horrors they've inflicted on
Everyone they said that doesn't belong
I've let myself down I've become their pawn
Running towards my own destruction

Of all the choices that I could have made
I chose them all because I was afraid
Afraid of losing and afraid of change
Afraid my life would never be the same

Anxiety, it kept me frozen up
To scared to speak, I thought I wasn't enough
They silence all the voices who object
Scared that I would be the target next

So I let them walk all over me
All while they said that they're setting me free
Too late, no way, but now finally I see
I should have stood and fought for what I believe

Instead I killed the core of who I am
And I can never go back again
Betrayed my family and betrayed my friends
I can't believe I'm now one of them
