Man I've had a lifetime worth of lessons
'fore I was even old enough to drink
I've heard em' say those lessons are like lemons
I've heard em' say you're better off to think
But I would say I'm good at over thinking
I've thought over a lot to say the least
If ever there was trouble I'd be in it
This lemon thing is harder than it seems
But let it be my mama told me, "son you'll make it there someday"
Just keep the good Lord in the middle
And don't forget to pray
If you see mountains you go through them
And look out at the view
And don't forget to call your mama
Yeah maybe I haven't learned my lesson
I'm trying harder every day to try
I've got some folks around me who inspire me
To be the biggest man that I can be
So may it be my daddy says son, "you're a better man than me"
Just keep your head down in the night time, and a lamp upon your feet
Set your sights on the horizon, and watch that setting sun
And don't forget to call your mama
So may it be that when I'm older, I'm a mighty man of God
Might have messed up in the middle
But I forgave and I forgot
Made some money made some memories
Made some babies of my own
And I always called my mama
So let it be my mama told me, "son you'll make it there someday"
Just keep the good Lord in the middle
And don't forget to pray
If you see mountains you go through them
And look out at the view
And don't forget to call your mama
Yeah, don't forget to call your mama
Yeah, I always call my mama
