It's how we fly this space
It seems so different
To back in the day
And it's obvious in this time and age
That people's moods are so quick to decay
What makes them feel this way
Self expression in its sickest state
My day versus your day
On a social media page
And if life is a stage
Then the best actor wins
Our scholarly economy
Being destroyed by acronyms
Less we forget the hate it brings
It makes me miss the melodies
That nature sings
It makes me miss the clarity
That honesty brings
When it's not hidden
Behind these worthless things
It's just lazy and tactless
The old school used to practice
The new school just edits
Using smoke and mirror tactics
Ever erratic
And over dramatic
I guess we're all just
Egotism addicts
And at times it seems so tragic
A wise woman once told me
To stick to your guns
Which for me equates to
Sharing love and having fun
So let's be like that calm
That precedes the rising sun
Because within this Universe
We are one
You've got the world at your feet
So get your mind out the zone
Those fingertips are better suited
To artistic endeavors
As we gather in the dust of
The disconnected and infected
Their true souls neglected
They consume as directed
And sadly animals extinct
Cant be resurrected
The sun seems so much
Brighter after the storm
And a cold day will
Make you appreciate one that's warm
A prolonged darkness will
Make you long for the dawn
And space is required
For art to find true form
If only a possible solution
Was to fast track evolution
To a time when trees grow
Un-choppable trunks
And the world is ruled by monks
Not trumps
