I bought a plant last summer
And didn't expect too much
My hands were pretty filthy
But there was a magical summer dust
I bought a plant last summer
Watered it and fed
And when I looked back the next day
I began to see a leaf
It was minuscule and brown
But I saw a tint of green
Excited I danced from room to room
I had a plant just for me
Could i turn this hopeful leaf
Into a wise oak tree?
It was beautiful to me
It really set me free
By the end of the summer
I had something more
Leaves a stem a petal or too
Soon I'll have a beanstalk
As autumn rolled it
I felt some cuts
The rain drowned my creation
And then I had to start
Again, but I understood
If I used my love, then all things were good
I was right, and I was finally happy
And that brown seed formed more than a tree
It formed happiness excitement and good memories
It created experiences adventures which will last for centuries
If someone were to ask me if I was in love
I would scream it too the treetops and all there is above
Yes I am because I made a tree
Out of summer dust, teenage love and a small rounded seed
And now our tree stands taller than the others
Magnificent and powerful, unstoppable lovers
