Lauren Braddock - The Green Green Grass of Junior's Farm Lyrics

Lauren Braddock - The Green Green Grass of Junior's Farm Lyrics

Junior wrote a very famous song, called the Green, Green Grass of Home
Junior and my dad were real good friends, and that is how this story begins

I learned to shoot on Junior's farm, with a BB gun in my little arms
But only old tin cans were harmed, that milestone day on Junior's farm

And I learned to fish in Junior's pond
Worms made me squirm, but still I'm fond
Of memories rippling beyond
The day they got away on Junior's farm

I was green as the green, green grass
Didn't know those firsts could be the last
You blink your eyes and the moments passed
From that time well spent, in sweet innocence

First baby I held was on Junior's lawn
Feeling grown up with a baby in my arms
I'm still here but she is gone,
That grandchild raised down on the farm

Paul McCartney rolled in on the grass
Rented the farm for the summer real fast
Moved in with his band and his wife and kids
But I didn't get to know him like my daddy did

Then one day Paul decided to swipe
Junior's teenage son's dirt bike
He rode off into the Tennessee night
With lovely Linda holding on tight

They were green as the green, green grass
Didn't know any day could be the last
You blink your eyes and the moments passed
Without our consent, sweet innocence

I grew up and some grew old
But '74 was solid gold
With Junior and his wife and family
And mama was there with daddy and me

We were green as green, naive as heck
Me and my Generation X
Had no idea what was coming next
Or any consequence, sweet innocence

It's a time gone by, a time of charm
New folks now own Junior's lawn
Sometimes in dreams I sing that song
Let's go, let's go to Junior's farm

Where Paul was rolling in the grass
Those dirt bike days zoomed by too fast
Blink your eyes and the moments passed
And you don't know where it went
I hitchhiked there once with my dad
Before the whole damn world went mad
You don't know till you know just what you had
And how much it meant, sweet innocence

Where Paul and Linda wrote Junior's Farm
And we all sang The Green Green Grass of Home
