Leeanna Allen - See You Lyrics

If they saw you in your failure
And they thought that it was funny
They laughed at you
And now, your rising surprises them
Well then it's only fair to conclude
That they didn't see you at all
Cause if they really saw you
They would have seen a being reaching for a level not yet clutched
The greatness buried and untouched
A mine of gold disguised by stone and brush
Sunken treasure thrusted to the bottom of the sea
No someone you were pretending to be
A spectacular peg in an ordinary hole
A royal attempting to fit peasant's mold
A story already written yet untold
But at the time, scared and dismayed out of your mind
By what could be, the possibilities
And unsure of the difference between who you are and what you feel
See, we use these interchangeably but they are certainly not equivalent
This is me admonishing you to deduce the variance
And harnessing the relevance can lead to enduring success
Or remorseful consequence now

Some of us would like to think of ourselves as what we have achieved
Our accolades, our academics
Our positions, awards, certificates
Land, cars, houses
These are great accomplishments but they are not your substance
And at times we define ourselves by our failures
The affair, failed marriage, divorce
Unemployment, unruly children, repossessed homes
Look, these things may have happened but they do not have ownership of your soul
Unless you give it
Sometimes we speak loosely when we say I am so stressed
I am depressed
I am stupid, dumb, unworthy
Listen to me, you are none of these things
It may be how you feel, but do not be deceived
Claiming these as your present and reality
Only lead to their consistency

There are times in the past where I considered what others think of me
Their titles, their views of vital
Their perceptions, their conditions of acceptance
Do I fit in? Do I stand out?
Clammering for human confirmation
But if my life's situation rest in another man's retina
My optic nerve would only produce skewed images
Leading to a wasted existence
Cornea on crack, cracked cataract that only interprets light from another person
But itch black internally

Now as I reel this piece I could see that it's gonna take some archaeology
But if that's what it takes I'm going for it and I hope you're with me
Drilling down past the phony and faulty layers
To find the true creation
Who I was in innocence
Before all the corruption
It may be dusty, it may be dirty, broken, beaten and worn
But by God, I'm excavating these old bones and launching an operation to restore
Make whole
You are a child of the Most High
You are an heir to the kingdom of heaven
You are loved by the Creator of the universe
You are forgiven 70 X 7
You are highly favoured and chosen and blessed to be a blessing
So it doesn't matter what they think about you and your journey
Your assignment is so much greater than anything they could have given
So if they saw you in your failure and thought that it was funny
Keep smiling, cause what they think they're laughing at will not last
Your victory is pre-ordained, predestined, perpetual and will come to pass
With your integrity intact
There is no lack in this place
You are so much more than they think you are
You will rise again
So let's continue to praise, let's continue to dance, sing and shout
So go 'head, don't let my victory hit you on the way out!
