When my head hangs low
And I feel defeat
I plead, and I pray
That I won't be weak
When tears fill my eyes
And nothing is clear
I wipe them away so
And send forth a prayer
The world takes away
The joy of living
But it is returned
With each prayer I'm sending
When my back is breaking
From the weight of my trials
I put down my burden
And I pray for awhile
When I look ahead
And troubles appear
I look where I've been
And know prayer got me here
Each time I stumble
I pick myself up
I won't stop to worry
I dust myself off
I look heavenward
And in prayer I call
I know that I'm heard
Though I feel so small
There's no perfection
Through worries and strife
A prayer of thanksgiving
I still give for this life
The world takes away
The joy of living
But it is returned
With each prayer I'm sending
When I reach out my hand
And it's slapped away
I know if I pray
I won't share their hate
When my heart grows cold
And it feels like a stone
I remember to pray
And I don't feel alone
The sky appears bluer
Your wonders are seen
There's a peace that descends
And I feel serene
The moon is brighter
The bird's songs are sweet
A prayer offered up
Makes me feel complete
The world takes away
The joy of living
But it is returned
With each prayer I'm sending
Prayer is a whisper
Prayer is a song
With every prayer
I am made strong
