Sometimes I go
To the graveyard
Just to cry
I read the stones
As I walk through
The dead alive
I think about their passions
And their sleepless nights
I think about my own
And the day that ill die

The numbers on the stone, the engraving
The flowers overgrown
Will salt deposits seep into the ground
Will my grandchildren gather round
Will weeds overtake
When the stone crumbles under acid rain
My descendants nestled among the same soft loam
A grassy pasture to now call home

And sometimes I go
To the graveyard just to cry
To let it all out
To appreciate life
To walk the trails
As day trails
Into night
To leave a rose
To reflect on those before
To never be ignored
