Yeah, that's me there sitting on the curb,
Chance for breakfast came and went
Meanwhile all of my possessions got stolen
Out of Bobbie's tent
Going down to the C.C.C.
To fend off this chilling cold
And maybe connect with a friend or two,
And share a story told
I'll be sleeping tonight under a bridge
Next to the railroad track
Had a bit of bad luck from poor choices
But I'm struggling to get back
Struggling to get back
Lost my job when they found out
I was recently released
Too bad cause all I really needed was enough money
To catch a bus to go back east
And it's hard to be honest and trustworthy
To deal with how I've come undone
What with so many in survival mode
Just looking out for number one
But hey, everybody's got their story
Of their hit and run surprise attack
And them that can think straight to form a plan
Are struggling to get back
Yeah, struggling to get back
I remember a time of another place
Where I was accepted, and just because
Where I had dignity and respect
For who and what I really was
This situation for me is temporary
So I'm singing my blues away
And I'm expecting a change in the weather
To happen most any day;
Any day
Till then I'm taking care with caution
To get myself back on track
I'm down and out right now my friend,
But I'm struggling to get back
Yeah, struggling to get back
