Zechariah served in the dead of night.
An angel appeared, and he shook with fear,
"Your prayer is heard; the time is near.
Your wife Elizabeth will bear a son,
Name him John, for God's work is begun."
Zechariah doubted, "How can this be?
We're old and gray, too late for us to see."
The angel said, "Because you doubt,
You'll be silent till these words play out."

When his son was born, "His name is John."
And his tongue was loosed, his voice was strong,
He praised the Lord; the people sang along!
