Wet sand, wet shoes, warm feet, sweat
Cocooned in thick wool
A bald eagle bathes in the river
Rinsing sand from its feathers
Fresh water and salt water meet
Swirling into something new
I leave a footprint at the end of the land for the ocean to swallow
The clouds bump into one another as they race across the sky
Knocking a few drops of rain loose
They land on the hood of my raincoat
The eagle rises
It circles above the trees, held by the wind
I lay on the sand, arms spread wide, growing wings of my own
