He led a life of crime, but one day they just gave him up, turned on a dime
Famous and unwelcome, as the ace of spades
And never finding love, and calling to the heavens above but they never did reply
Well these days I go down to this dirty space downtown, to see the wretched fool I call the outlaw
Does he laugh does he cry when he looks back on his life, is there anything worth saving in the outlaw
He gave there money all a run, preached unto the faithful with lawyers and a gun
Paid his debts in diamonds and schemes of the day
But he couldn't understand, the conscious of a God fearing man and he finally paid his price
Well these days I go down to this dirty space downtown, to see the wretched fool I call the outlaw
Does he laugh does he cry when he looks back on his life, is there anything worth saving in the outlaw
Sometimes when the darkness has taken his mind, I can see regret in his eyes
But I know there's more than the villain they see, he takes the time to guide me
When his eyes got dark I could see a restless heart, and the pain and empty days of an outlaw
And he smiled and he cried when he talked about his life, there's a gentle soul worth saving in the outlaw
Is there anything worth saving
And his aim is still the best of them all, and you'll never see him beg cry or crawl
