Trapped beneath my silverware
A canvas for my mind
Stumbling into darkness
I leave my friends behind
A wet ring from a glass
Imprinted on a cloth
Frames the words I write
While dodging crumbs and broth
Staring in the dark
Too far gone to be revived
Is it you or me
Whose mind has been deprived
You can see me fade
But there's nothing you can do
But watch me as I wonder
Can you feel it too
The brighter the light reflects in the sky
The less you can actually see
Imagine the things that the darkness reveals
The night sky as it was meant to be
Are you afraid of the dark
Do you fear my vacant stare
Do you fear what you don't believe in
Might actually be there
When we don't understand our past
We make it up as we go
We can read it in a book
But do we really know
I thought I got away
But it followed me
I can't escape
What I'll always be
