Pa, just go till the field
Leave me here with the bear and all will be well
Under the sun's broad shield
By blossoms where wild perfumes swell
Here in the meadow's arms
Quiet as stories yet to tell
With no fear of harm
The bear keeps his watch, stern and well
I took out a can and we both got fed
The bear, my companion friend
Together we shared our simple spread
In silence that speaks, without need to pretend
He's gruff and grand, with eyes like ember
Guarding me more than I could comprehend
In this wildflower sea, I'll always remember
The day as wide as the land's end
While you're gone to the field's embrace
And work turns hours under the sky
I sit with the bear in this flowering place
Where time and wilderness softly lie
With the bear beside, no fear was mine
Pa's return marks the day's benign
Together we stand, the field, the bear, and me
In the dance of dusk, content and free
In the dance of dusk, content and free
