A little girl was sitting in divorce court one day
Listening to the lawyers bargain her life away
Arguing who would get her and where she would reside
She said may I speak your honour before you decide
I love my mama and papa and I think they love me
Then why are they divorcing surely they must see
That they're tearing my world apart the only home I know
We're only half a family now and why must this be so
The judge looked down so wisely then gave a little smile
I'm more than pleased to hear the wisdom of this child
She looked down at the parents and at the lawyers too
Said listen to this little girl as she speaks to you
There were tears in that court room yes scarcely one dry eye
Some were tears of sorrow some were tears of joy
As the parents reconciled the judge fought back a tear
And even the lawyers smiled at what had happened here
I love my mama and papa now I know they love me
They are hugging and kissing just how it should be
They're pulling my world together and restoring my life
We are a whole family now a child, a man and wife
Yes we are a whole family now a child, a man and wife
