I was Santa in an orphanage
When a small girl came up to me
She was about five years old
So I sat her on my knee
I didn't know what to expect
When I saw a tear in her eye
I asked her just what was wrong
And this was her reply
I want a mama for Christmas, I want a daddy too
And maybe a brother or sister, please give them to me will you
I want a family for Christmas, I don't need any toys
I want a family for Christmas, like other girls and boys
Now this really shook me up
I didn't what to say
I said I'd see what I could do
As I brushed my tears away
But when I left to go home
With my thoughts in my head
One kept on echoing
The words that she had said
I couldn't forget the small girls words
They kept echoing in my head
When I told this to my wife
She smiled and then she said
We must go and adopt her
And become her family
So when I went and told her
She shouted out with glee
I have a mama for Christmas, I have a daddy too
And maybe a brother or sister, oh how can I thank you
I have a family for Christmas, God has answered my prayer
I have a family for Christmas, for this and every year
