They stripped Him down, they tied Him tight
The whip came down in the dead of night
Leather cords, the lead tore deep
Blood ran red, and flesh ran weak
The soldiers laughed, they crowned Him King
Thorns dug deep as they mocked and screamed
A purple robe, a twisted game
But He bore the cross and took the shame
Every strike, every lash
Every wound, every gash
For the ones who cursed His name
Still, He chose to take the blame
Blood and water poured from His side
A broken heart for love crucified
He took my shame, He took my place
Held to the cross by mercy and grace
Hands were nailed, the sky turned black
Every breath, a fading track
Muscles torn, lungs full of fire
Yet love still burned beneath the wire
A voice rang out, a desperate cry
My God, My God, why leave me to die
With splintered wood and rusted steel
The weight of sin was made so real
Every tear, every loss
Every sin nailed to that cross
For the broken, for the blind
For the ones who left Him behind
Blood and water poured from His side
A broken heart for love crucified
He took my shame, He took my place
Held to the cross by mercy and grace
They crushed His ribs, they stole His breath
A spear drove deep to prove His death
But they never saw what He would do
That tomb would break, that stone roll through
It is finished, the war is won
The grave was silent... but not for long
Blood and water poured from His side
He conquered death so we'd have life
The cross was pain, the grave was sealed
But love rose up and now I'm healed
The nails are gone, the scars remain
But love still speaks through all the pain
The grave is empty, death undone
Salvation shines in God's risen Son
