The winter winds blew strong
I never felt like I belonged
And I was built to roam
It started with a song
And proved perceptions wrong
This place became my home
Among the monochrome.
I didn't know what I would find
On these cobbled streets surrounding me
But what I got was peace of mind
And a little Mersey
Seasons came to pass
In stubborn overcast
With more rain than I could stand
The years when by so fast
And through the hourglass
I came to understand
This town made me a man
To me, these streets are stuck in time
They're as bittersweet as a fading memory
There's nothing quite so saccharine
As a little Mersey
