We sat there in the playground with a shovel and a bucket
Serving sand cakes and collecting stones in our pocket
But the excitement disappeared all by itself - as we grew older
And there is nothing to do about it but wait
We started to dress up like a princess or a cowboy
Building castles out of blankets shooting holes in the blue sky
Till we decided that's a pretty stupid way - to appear
And there is nothing to do about it but wait
So what? Stop crying - So what? Start flying
When the sun goes down trustily turn around
And watch the other side till the sunrise supplies
Another day, another way to carry on
We went out every night and didn't handle much more
Than dancing and drinking singing songs against the war
Up to that night we felt tired and desired - our home
And there is nothing to do about it but wait
So what...
Because some periods of our way
Are not intended to stay
They are just a twinkle in the eye
A moment of bliss to go by
We raised our children and we made our living
Coming close together once a year on thanksgiving
To be happy about the celebration - of peace
And there is nothing to do about it but wait
So what...
We continued running and we knew what was coming
When the circle is closed there's only one door to go in
It's a beginning and ending we just - change places in life
And there is nothing to do about it but wait
So what? Stop crying - So what? Start flying
When the sun goes down trustily turn around
And watch the other side till the moon supplies
Another way, but not a day to carry on
