Leave
by Once

I can't wait forever is all that you said
Before you stood up
And you won't disappoint me
I can do that myself
But I'm glad that you've come
Now if you don't mind

Leave, leave,
And free yourself at the same time
Leave, leave,
I don't understand, you've already gone

I hope you feel better
Now that it's out
What took you so long
And the truth has a habit
Of falling outta your mouth
Well now that it's come
If you don't mind

Leave, leave,
And please yourself at the same time
Leave, leave,
Let go of my hand
You said what you have to now
Leave, leave,
Let go of my hand
You said what you came to now
Leave, leave,
Leave, leave,
Let go of my hand
You said what you have to now
Leave, leave...

Falling Slowly
by Once

(Music and Lyrics by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova)

I don't know you, but I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me, and always fool me
And I can't react

Games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat
And point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice
You had a choice
You've made it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me, and erase me
And I'm painted black

You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won

Take this sinking boat
And point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice
You had a choice
You've made it now

Falling slowly
Sing your melody
I'll sing it loudFalling Slowly Once musical lyrics

The Moon
by Once

Cut the bonds with the moon
And let the dogs gather
Burn the gauze in the spoon
And suck the poison up
And bleed

Shut the door to the moon
And let the birds gather
Play no more with the fool
And let the souls wander
And bleed
From the soul

A slow hurt.. and it breaks us..
And so down,
Down, down and so plain
So down
When you play some more it seems so
And my friends are past this game
Of breakdowns
And our friends that are lost at sea..
Throw down
And I'll break the wasted space
Slow down, slow down,
If you don't slow down, slow down
If you don't slow down, slow..

Cut the bonds with the moon
And watch the dogs gather

If You Want Me
by Once

Are you really here or am I dreaming
I can't tell dreams from truth
For it's been so long since I have seen you
I can hardly remember your face anymore
When I get really lonely
And the distance calls its only silence
I think of you smiling with pride in your eyes a lover that sighs

If you want me satisfy me
If you want me satisfy me

Are you really sure that you believe me
When others say I lie
I wonder if you could ever despise me
You know I really try
To be a better one to satisfy
You for you're everything to me
And I do what you ask me
If you let me be free

If you want me satisfy me
If you want me satisfy me

If you want me satisfy me
If you want me satisfy me

Broken Hearted Hoover Fixer Sucker Guy
by Once

(Performed by Steve Kazee - Broken Hearted Hoover Fixer Sucker Guy)

Ten years ago
I fell in love with an Irish girl
She took my heart

But she went and screwed some guy she knew
And now I'm in Dublin with a broken heart

Oh broken hearted Hoover fixer sucker guy
Oh broken hearted Hoover fixer sucker, sucker guy

One day I'll go there and win her once again
but until then I'm just a sucker of a guy

Say It To Me Now
by Once

I'm scratching at the surface now
And I'm trying hard to work it out
So much has gone misunderstood
This mystery only leads to doubt
And I didn't understand
When you reached out to take my hand
And if you have something to say
You'd better say it now

Cause this is what you've waited for
Your chance to even up the score
And as these shadows fall on me now
I will somehow

Cause I'm picking up a message Lord
And I'm closer than I've ever been before

So if you have something to say
Say it to me now
Say it to me now
Say it to me now

Gold
by Once

And I love her so
I wouldn't trade her for gold
I'm walking on moon beams
I was born with a silver spoon
And I'm gonna be free
I'm gonna be free I'm walking on moon beams
And staring out to sea

And if a door close
Then a road for home start building
And tear your curtains down
For sunlight is like gold

And you better be you
And do what you can do
When you're walking on moon beams
Staring out to sea
Cause if your skin was soil
How long do you think before they start digging
And if your life was gold how long would
You think you'd stay livin'?
Hey

And I love her so
I wouldn't trade her for gold

Sleeping
by Once

Are you sleeping?
Still dreaming?
Still drifting off alone.
I'm not leaving with this feeling
So you'd better best be told
And how in the world did you come
To be such a lazy love?

It's so simple, and fitting
The path that you are on
We're not talking, there's no secrets
There's just a note that you have gone
And all that you've ever owned
Is packed in the hall to go

And how am I supposed to live without you?
A wrong word said in anger and you were gone

I'm not listening for signals
It's all dust now on the shelf
Are you still working? Still counting?
Still buried in yourself?
And how in the world did we come
To have such an absent love?

And how am I supposed to live without you?
A wrong word said in anger and you were gone
And how am I supposed to live without anyone?

And how in the world did you come
To be such a lazy love?
And where did you go?

When Your Minds Made Up
by Once

So
If you ever want something
You call, you call
And I'll come running to fight
And I'll be at your door
And there's nothing worth running for

When your mind is made up
When your mind is made up
There's no point trying to change it
When your mind is made up
When your mind is made up
There's no point trying to stop it

You see you're just like everyone
When you share your falls
All you want to do is run away
And hide all by yourself
When there's fall, there's fall
There's nothing else

When your mind is made up
When your mind is made up
There's no point trying to change it
When your mind is made up
When your mind is made up
There's no point even talkin'
When your mind is made up
When your mind is made up
There's no point trying to fight it
When your mind, your mind

There's no point trying to change it
When your

So If you ever want something
Then you call, call
Then I'll come running

The Hill
by Once

Walking up the hill tonight
when you have closed your eyes.
I wish I didn't have to make
All those mistakes and be wise.
Please try to be patient
And know that I'm still learning.
I'm sorry that you have to see
the strength inside me burning.

But where are you my angel now?
Don't you see me crying?
And I know that you can't do it all
But you can't say I'm not trying.
I'm on my knees in front of him
But he doesn't seem to see me.
With all his troubles on his mind
He's looking right through me.
And I'm letting myself down
By satisfying you
And I wish that you could see
That I have my troubles too.

Looking at you sleeping
I'm with the man I know.
I'm sitting here weeping
while the hours pass so slow.

And I know that in the morning
I'll have to let you go
and you'll be just a man
once I used to know.
But for these past few days
Someone I don't recognize.
This isn't all my fault.
When will you realize?

Looking at you leaving,
I'm looking for a sign

Chandlers Wife
by Once

I went into the chandler's shop some candles for to buy,
I looked around the chandler's shop but no one did I spy.
I was disappointed and some angry words I said,
Then I heard the sound of a (knock, knock, knock) up above my head. (2x)

Well I was slick and I was quick, and up the stairs I sped,
And much to my surprise I found the chandler's wife in bed;
And with her was another man of most gigantic size,
And they were having a (knock, knock, knock) right before my eyes. (2x)

When the fun was over and done and the lady raised her head,
She was quite surprised to find me standing by the bed.
"If you will be discreet, my lad, if you would be so kind,
I'll let you come up for some (knock, knock, knock) whenever you feel inclined." (2x)

So, many a day and many a night when the chandler wasn't home,
To get myself some candles to the chandler's shop I'd roam.
But nary a one she gave to me, but gave to me instead,
A little bit more of the (knock, knock, knock) to light my way to bed. (2x)

So, all you married men take heed, if ever you come to town,
If you must leave your woman alone, be sure to tie her down.
Or, if you would be kind to her, just sit her on the floor,
Mind give her so much of that (knock, knock, knock) she doesn't need any more. (2x)

Once is a musical based on the 2007 film of the same name by John Carney. Like the film, music and lyrics were by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, including the Academy Award-winning "Falling Slowly". The book for the musical was written by Enda Walsh. The musical premiered at the New York Theatre Workshop in 2011, before transferring to Broadway in 2012. The production received eleven 2012 Tony Award nominations, and won eight including Best Musical, Best Actor and Best Book.

The musical also won the 2012 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical and the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. It has since spawned a London production, with a North American Tour which started on 1 October 2013. In the musical, the cast also serves as the orchestra. A minimalist set is used, including a bar in center stage with chairs lining stage left and right. Exiting cast members simply step to the side of the stage and sit down. They serve as the orchestra from these chairs. The bar is used before the show and at intermission as a working bar for theater patrons.
