On a wildfire October the stones of time were lowered
As something caught my eye but I wasn't bothered
She took me to the river of black and dark roses
And she danced with the moon as if she was tribal
And the birds were singing around her heart
Which was broken by my compassion
But earlier I asked

"Do you know what compassion means?"
With love and genuinity she replied
"I'm a broken mess of blood and love and it keeps me far away from home"
At that time and age I couldn't understand
But now that I've seen it through I can see
Love was not easy for you

I walked a bridge to nowhere said "I'll take you with me"
And then the bond which exists between her oceans split
Filled with a certain rose or a lilac if you want
Flowers were never my strong suit I suppose
I tell you bliss was a name of mine etched into the stones of time
Though I cannot speak for her
All I could ever do was to observe her worried mystery
And how misery extended into a crisis and left her eyeless I assume

This is the last note I'll ever write
And put into a bottle and send out alright
This brandy is finished and my smoke is out of light
Now the crimson sea will devour me without a fight
