Woke up, it was crazy, the day that I believed in myself
Looked at my phone, number 8, I done proved it to myself
Had a top 10 album that was in me
Welcome to the charts, who knew I had it in me
No lights, no cameras, no interviews or release parties
I wasn't expecting it, it wasn't something that I had even dreamed of
To wake up and see my name on the top of those charts, wow
Now granted, it's not Billboard, it's just iTunes
But to me, it was the biggest sense of recognition that I've ever received in my career
See, I'd been doubting my career choices
And after watching the pandemic sweep across the world, I was wondering
Am I doing the right thing
Is this where I'm supposed to be
Will I ever be able to comfortably support my family
Will I ever be able to impact the world this way
Questions like that drove me crazy
And then, I remember, it was a miracle
I woke up and I had the number 8 hip hop album and was number 72 in all genres
Suddenly, all of my doubts started to disappear
Woke up, it was crazy, the day that I believed in myself
Looked at my phone, number 8, I done proved it to myself
Had a top 10 album that was in me
Welcome to the charts, who knew I had it in me
So what's next, what does this mean
These are the questions that keep me up
These are the ideas that worry me
What if my next release doesn't land back in the top 10
Or even worse, what if it doesn't chart at all
Have I peaked
Is it all downhill from here
Have I already reached the best that I will ever be
I don't know the answers to these questions
But I do know this
I'm where I'm supposed to be
And that is an amazing feeling
Woke up, it was crazy, the day that I believed in myself
Looked at my phone, number 8, I done proved it to myself
Had a top 10 album that was in me
Welcome to the charts, who knew I had it in me
We did it
Woke up, it was crazy, the day that I believed in myself
Looked at my phone, number 8, I done proved it to myself
Had a top 10 album that was in me
Welcome to the charts, who knew I had it in me
