The neighborhood dog used to run 'round in circles
I'd go home but we never knew that one day
My mom used to tie my long hair in braids
It stuck with me and I've worn it short since
A back window view of your sister smoking pot
We never realized it hurts to be grown up
And we all knew that the neighborhood was going away
And we all followed the unspoken rules of the playground
Don't tell me where you're going cuz I don't want you to leave
Our crabapple fight memories are plaguing my mind like I'm still stuck in that tree
The dent we made in our garage is blocked by
The moving truck parked outside your front yard
The boxes in my room are taking up the space
Of the pillow forts we built back in fourth grade
And you never knew it cuz I never told you
I sat on my front porch watching you drive away
And we all knew that the neighborhood was going away
And we all followed our parents' paths with our backs up straight
Don't tell me where you're going cuz I don't want you to leave
Our crabapple fight memories are plaguing my mind like I'm still stuck in that tree
The neighborhood dog used to run 'round in circles
I'd go home but we never knew that one day
