Sitting there waiting at my corner of the bar
Is my familiar bar stool just as I had left it
A cold drink is set before me just as I sit down and take my first sip
The other regulars nod in my direction as I slide my bottle into a beach-themed koozie
I get settled in and casually absorb the familiar smells and familiar things I see
The sound of water comes in closer as boats come in to dock
Their small wakes rocking the piers
Splashing water on the seawall rocks
Pass the time talking to old friends and new
I slide an empty bottle forward and it's replaced with a cold fresh one
Music plays in the background Some I like, some I don't
Slide my Oakleys down from my head to shield my eyes from the sun, from the sun
At the shift change, the new barkeep starts to rearrange
And I take my cue that I've reached the end of my day, here
Check the contents of my bottle to see if I need just one more
As I do a final scan of my favorite place as I've done a hundred times before
Ask for my tab as I sip my last drink
Pull a few bills from my wallet and slide them to the bartender
Say my goodbyes as I stand to make my way to the street
I'll be back tomorrow and every day hopefully forever
