Phil Eastham - (A Marine Story) Red White & Blue Lyrics

Phil Eastham - (A Marine Story) Red White & Blue Lyrics

He was heading towards the plane his heart was full
Saying goodbye when at his leg he felt a pull
His little boy at his feet daddy, please don't go
When a single tear fell, he couldn't let it show

He held his son in his loving arms
A man so strong and courageous couldn't resist his charms
He said son i love you and please remember
A marine will stand firm even in the face of danger

As he stood and released the young boy
He looked at his loving wife but couldn't play it coy
He had a look of both predator and prey
As he turned towards the plane on that Christmas day

A marine's oath will always stand true
God, country, family
Red, white and blue

Two years went by to the man it felt like five
In his barracks wondering if tomorrow would he still be alive
He thought of his son and he thought of his beautiful wife
Wishing he could get back to his normal everyday life

But the man had a higher calling you see
An American warrior a United States marine
With an oath he swore with no regret
He'd protect god, country
No matter the threat

Another Christmas day two years later
Mother and son heading towards the airport hanger
He can barely sit still with such anticipation
Unaware of the grave situation

A Marine's oath will always stand true
God country family
Red white and blue

Full of excitement he runs towards the plane
He can't wait to see his daddy again
One by one marines filing down the stairs
On the boy's neck and arms, feeling chills and standing hairs

A uniformed man walks over to his mother
The boy's words begin to shorten and stutter
She picks up her son as she was handed the folded flag
With tears in her eyes she also accepted the dog tags

His father had made the greatest sacrifice
Along with paying the ultimate price
He had given his life so that others may live
Remember this at Christmas when you plan to give

A marine's oath will always stand true
God, country, family
Red, white and blue

Because some marines stay and some come home
Be blessed if you're marine
On Christmas is not alone
Thank you for giving your all and always doing your best
And to the boy's father, at ease marine, you may now rest

A marine's oath will always stand true
God, country, family
Red, white and blue

A marine's oath will always stand true
God, country, family
Red, white and blue
