Picky - Beatboxin' Lyrics

Picky - Beatboxin' Lyrics

I remember how it all started
I was walking down the street
And a beat came to my head
So I started beatboxing 'round my friends
Who started spitting lyrics
I was there trynna listen
Thinking to myself
Damn, they coulda said this or that
They would've really attacked
If they would've said that word
It would've been a lyrical swerve
But it didn't cross their minds
Sure as hell crossed mine
And at the time, I didn't think much of it
Something we would do
Under the voodoo of that lick
Something quickly changed
When I saw my maynes
Sitting at the cafeteria table
With a pen and a paper
Each one of them
Trynna go ham
But they were halal
Conscience flow, with no feelings involved
Just rhyming words: "Hey Paul
Ball rhymes with mall" as I recall
You get the image of it? I wanted imagery
Seeking complexity
To depict the city that we live in
Some true nationalism
One that doesn't make a killing

(A killing, a killing, a killing, a killing, a killing, a killing, a killing)

Then self criticism kicked in
With his usual grin
Looked at me and then said
"You think you better than them
Well it's all in your head
You think a lot of thoughts
Take actions instead! I mean
What good is being the one
When you're the only one that knows it
Got goods? Then expose them
Or die while you hold them
(Please don't die while you hold em)

Though I was music's son
Comparison made my way way longer
Mentality couldn't have been wronger
Doubts were stronger
Than the shouts inside
Tired of being under
So I took them outside, for a walk
To my surprise, I got caught
Being pulled by their leash
Humbled down to my knees
Guess music's done saying please
And playing peekaboo saying, "Take a look at you boy
You sick, say achoo" - instead of medicating
Statement got me contemplating about the nature of my brain
Science is great but your creativity's insane
It's the key to the life that you'll gain
Now would you look at that
Your minds hearing raps while you're writing labs
Perhaps it's time to switch tracks and drop tracks
Go ahead climax

Quick story, let me tell you about the times I could've missed this glory
Universe sending signals in a hurry
"Damn! He's blind as a bat man
Can't he see he's making music since an infant
His friends getting mad cause his tapping was consistent
And the hum would never end?" Sorry
I'll fulfill God's plan
CDs my mentor
This story got no end, this story got no end
