If I could see
I would walk alone sometimes
Stroll serenely along a tree lined street and
Watch the comings and goings of people
Moving toward their separate destinies
I would listen to snatches of conversation
Letting them touch my curiosity without stopping
To find the deeper meaning
I would move in space and time
Letting my arms swing nonchalantly at my sides.
I would become one with the motion of walking,
The faint odor of flowers
The smell of sea air
Books, perfume, sweat and vehicular motion
I would speak to no one, save for a slight nod of the head
Or wave of the hand, in silent acknowledgement
I would be unattached
If I could see, I would stare open-mouthed at the infinity of the stars
