I was walking down a street as the sun left the sky
When a girl dressed in brown smiled while passing me by
I wanted to say "Hi" but I felt too shy and almost stuttered
By the time I'd gained composure and I turned around
It seems she'd disappeared so I stamped on the ground
Then further down the street kicked a bottle I found in the gutter

I came to a pub so I walked on in
There were three card players with their whiskies and gin
So I went and bought a beer called "Old Speckled Hen" and drank it
On the tele was some football from the Champions League
And some player kept on swearing at the referee
On his shirt was the name of a loan company linked to banking

I decided to leave but just outside once more I met her
