Falling back to where I once used to be
Green tinted prism of a memory
Winding back through the lanes of my mind
Bridgend memories
Rivers of Babylon flowing in the air
The smell of red fire hoses takes me there
Streets of theatre we open the play of
Bridgend memories
Preserved in amber and frozen in time
Everything changes but mind echoes chime
The bells of childhood ring their song
Through the year since I left my home
Welsh winters cars buries in snow
Drifts used as slopes from our bedroom window
Now the school and meadow - no longer there
Bridgend memories
40 years later I return to find
Cattle grid and paper factory eroded through time
Coite Castle still stands like an echo of
Bridgend Memories
Time waits for no one (time won't wait)
The past it still breathes
But I will be left with my
Bridgend memories
Bridgend memories
