Richard Dry - Strange New World Lyrics

Richard Dry - Strange New World Lyrics

We all want to live in our typical ways
But it's getting much harder every passing day
I think you know what I'm trying to say
It's a strange strange new world

You have to stay inside
You can never go out
Close all your doors
Cause it's lurking about
You're better off staying locked inside your house
In this strange new world

It was only just a minute
You were out in the streets
Hugging and kissing your friends on the cheeks
Now your hoarding bread and your favorite TP

Now the market's going to hell
You're captive in a prison cell
The TV says it's gonna get worse before gets better

Is it getting on your nerve
That we're flattening the curve
Remember that it's for the greater good we serve

John Knox survived the Korean War
Being a cop and many firefighter tours
But after ground zero his lungs were too poor
For this Strange new world

They thought Sundee Rutter had a touch of the flu
A mother of six at the age of 42
She'd burried her husband beat breast cancer too
Not this strange new world

The mayor thinks he's woke
The President says it's a joke
So they're packed onto Clearwater beach for spring vacation

He calls it a Chinese name
So the victims can be blamed
Meanwhile their kicking Asian women in the subway stations

Church leaders say
It's okay to come and pray
We'll all open up on Easter Day

It'll be alright my baby
Gods on our side
It'll be all right my darlin'
He must have hated all this people that died

Joan worked the dayshift in the ICU
The patients called her mama cause she brought them soup
She gave them paintings by her daughter sue
Water color swirls

Joan woke up in the middle of the night
She had a little cough
Knew that something wasn't right
That was the last time she kissed her kid goodnight
In this crazy world

It's hard to believe in what we cannot see
It's hard to plan for something not yet happening to me
But if two months of sacrifice make us this deranged
How will we prepare ourselves for climate change

Is it getting on your nerve
That we're flattening the curve
Remember that it's for the greater good we serve
