I met a busy man down on Bay Street
Told me he works hard on the exchange
He justified with glowing pride
Without a trace of shame inside
Why he always takes and never gives
He said to me "Now son, here's how it works:
Someone else's loss is my gain"
He spoke to me of bulls and bears
But all I saw was a pig in there
Drowning in his filth and he don't care
And I want to be free like you
Not to worry 'bout the things I do
And I want to believe like you
That I can take from this world what I'm due
I met a man in black with a bright white collar
He tells the men in green what to do
It seems the bloody means
Will justify their bloody ends
And he claims it's for the good of me and you
I told him what a dirty game he's playing
And I said "But what if someone calls you out?"
"We just label him a traitor
And we'll shame him out of town
He'll pay the price, of that there is no doubt"
And I want to be free like you
Not to worry 'bout the things I do
And I want to believe like you
That I can take from this world what I'm due
But my heart won't let me be untrue
