Something helps him sleep at night
Though it's well beyond me, I'd die from such fright
Cuz he's got two to his left, three more to his right
He prays that they don't see him as he drops out of sight
He's only got two wishes for the wishing well
As he throws in all the quarters that his pockets could hold
The first is that he's brought safely back to his home
And the other's that they might save his soul, oh but he knows
His fear is too cold
He's alone, and he sits perfectly still
But his jaw starts to quiver, something's giving him chills
And he walks on the line between what's fake and what's real
What he calls home is just an empty house on the hill
A wayward soul, this is no place for a child
She says I know, but I'm just passing by
On my way home, and I won't run for my life
Because I know, that in the midst of my fear I might find
I might find my soul
But her fear is too cold
Just hold on, this will be over soon
You pass the ghosts and the ghouls and they're howling at the moon
Cuz they can smell your fear, you know they fear it too
And they won't stop until it's gone
They say the only thing to fear is fear in itself
But when there's fear all around that makes your life living hell
Because it creeps in, proliferates, and builds on itself
Next thing you know you're alone
