Christmas is coming, every shopping cart is full
All the children are ready for the last day of school
Mom and Daddy stressing just to make time for a break
Everybody's ready to enjoy the holiday
This is why we're saving up
Put the decorations up
Make sure that you bake enough
Everybody's busy now
Pushing through the picky crowd
Christmas cards we're sending out
A party every week so we can celebrate with friends
Then we'll be with our family till Santa finally descends
It's the holiday hustle
Every year's a struggle
Gotta find that joy again
It's worth it for the children
So they get that feeling
Maybe we'll feel it through them
Oh God, I miss the good old days
When Mom and Dad would stay awake
Just so we could feel it too
I guess it's how it's always been
A cyclical construction
That we're gonna continue
Get it on the calendar months in advance
Negotiate with family the fairness of the plans
Navigate all the feelings that you hold yourself
If they cause too much trouble, then put them on the shelf
Gotta learn what to be done
Gotta learn to bite the tongue
Hold it all inside your gums
Force yourself to sing along
Let the family choose the song
It's okay to sing it wrong
As crazy as it seems, mixed emotions as we leave
We will cry when it's all done and we will also be relieved
It's the holiday hustle
Every year's a struggle
Gotta find that joy again
It's worth it for the children
So they get that feeling
Maybe we'll feel it through them
Oh God, I miss the good old days
When Mom and Dad would stay awake
Just so we could feel it too
I guess it's how it's always been
A cyclical construction
That we're gonna continue
I wouldn't trade the mess for December with monotony
I wouldn't trade the stress for a winter without family
I would be depressed, missing everyone I wanna see
We don't need the rest, we want that holly jolly pageantry
Get your hustle on, make the magic strong
You know it won't be long until it's all gone
Holiday's close, not afraid to host
Gotta make the most, let us raise a toast
It's the holiday hustle
Every year's a struggle
Gotta find that joy again
It's worth it for the children
So they get that feeling
Maybe we'll feel it through them
Oh God, I miss the good old days
When Mom and Dad would stay awake
Just so we could feel it too
I guess it's how it's always been
A cyclical construction
That we're gonna continue
Rash, I'm nervous, cash to purchase
Gas the perfect pass, won't hurt them
Blast the circus, laugh and cursin'
And mad is it worth it, trapped but there's purpose
Trying, to navigate concern
Buying, with the cash that I have earned
Striving, a tragic way to learn
Dying, for the magic to return
It's the holiday hustle
Every year's a struggle
Gotta find that joy again
It's worth it for the children
So they get that feeling
Maybe we'll feel it through them
Oh God, I miss the good old days
When Mom and Dad would stay awake
Just so we could feel it too
I guess it's how it's always been
A cyclical construction
That we're gonna continue
It's the holiday hustle
Every year's a struggle
Gotta find that joy again
It's worth it for the children
So they get that feeling
Maybe we'll feel it through them
Oh God, I miss the good old days
When Mom and Dad would stay awake
Just so we could feel it too
I guess it's how it's always been
A cyclical construction
That we're gonna continue
