When it all began
It was a color in a shape that climbed away
Dripping down the hand
Of another wayward glance that wouldn't stay
But as it pooled in place
The shape began to shift and it grew a face
When she knew my name
The color leapt, and I swear
I felt ashamed
Take a breath again (How do I breathe again?)
The day is kept alive with no intent
Well, my only friend
I think that we should play until the end
And if the string
That's seen, with ease, is not meant to be played
Boy, what a fool
The one who'll dance to the strings pulled anyway
Wait and doubt
Way to doubt
Waiting out
Weighted doubt
Fade it out
The jaded shout
When fate is out
To fake the doubt
We wait it out
And wait it out
And wait to doubt
A new way out
Mistakes and doubt
We laugh it out
Encased in what we're all about
Let the color swell
It bleeds into the corners of the page
We knew it much too well
The problem isn't in a weakened cage
Although, we'd never tell
Go right ahead and lean on what we say
But when the curtain finally fell
The color had no reason left to stay
Wait and doubt
Way to doubt
Waiting out
Weighted doubt
Fade it out
The jaded shout
When fate is out
To fake the doubt
We wait it out
And wait it out
And wait to doubt
A new way out
Mistakes and doubt
We laugh it out
Encased in what we're all about
We laugh a lot
We laugh a lot
We laugh a lot
We laugh a lot
