Sideways Paving Co. - Five Thirty Five Lyrics

Sideways Paving Co. - Five Thirty Five Lyrics

Somewhere between
Houston and fourteenth street
Been living on the Lower East Side for a while now

Been sharing beds in Alphabet City
I went to 206 East 7th street
For some poetry it was so sweet
Never made it downtown

My shoes have been losing their soles
From walking New York City streets
And inside my pockets there must be holes
Been stressing over money recently
And realizing I'm getting old
I guess it never occurred to me, just when
I started calling this place home

I walked down to 1st
Past avenues A and B
So many pretty women around thought I'd stay a while
In this creativity

And I never really believed in all those pretty things
Until I saw this film at the Village East and
Once I had a woman but we
We never made any memories

My shoes have been losing their soles
From walking New York City streets
And inside my pockets there must be holes
Been stressing over money recently
And realizing I'm getting old
I guess it never occurred to me, just when
I started calling this place home

I stepped out to the bar for the night
To see what this lifestyle was all about
And I kind of liked it, I must say
She looked at me with, wide eyes
And remembered my name
I kind of liked it, I won't lie
Will we see each other, she said, again and again
Ohh I'll make sure of it

My shoes have been losing their soles
From walking New York City streets
And inside my pockets there must be holes
Been stressing over money recently
And realizing I'm getting old
I guess it never occurred to me, just when
I started calling this place home
