Grandma Got Run Over by a Vampire
By Bruce Alan Marcom
[Pipe organ][Chimes][bells]
Verse 1:
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
But Grandma had wandered out into the night,
Unaware of the danger, the impending fright.
Chorus:
Grandma got run over by a vampire,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as monsters,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
[Pipe organ]
Verse 2:
She'd been drinking too much eggnog,
And we'd begged her not to go.
But she forgot her medication,
And she staggered out the door into the snow.
Chorus:
Grandma got run over by a vampire,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as monsters,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
[Pipe organ]
Verse 3:
When they found her Christmas morning,
At the scene of the attack,
There were fang marks on her neck,
And incriminating claw marks on her back.
Chorus:
Grandma got run over by a vampire,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as monsters,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
[Pipe organ]
Verse 4:
Now we're all so proud of Grandpa,
He's been taking this so well.
See him in there watching football,
Drinking beer and playing cards with Cousin Mel.
Chorus:
Grandma got run over by a vampire,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as monsters,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
[Pipe organ]
Verse 5:
It's not Christmas without Grandma,
All the family's dressed in black.
And we just can't help but wonder:
Should we open up her gifts or send them back?
Chorus:
Grandma got run over by a vampire,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as monsters,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
[Pipe organ]
Verse 6:
Now the goose is on the table,
And the pudding made of fig.
And a pale and bloodless candle,
That would have matched the pallor of her wig.
Final Chorus:
Grandma got run over by a vampire,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there's no such thing as monsters,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
[Pipe organ]
