Sister Act Musical Soundtrack Lyrics

Prologue
by Sister Act Cast

[MOTHER SUPERIOR]
Blessed Father, our convent is in need
The church is falling apart, our sisters are few
The parishioners no longer come
Without your infinite mercy
We shall soon be forced to close our doors
Where, dear Lord, oh where is our salvation?

[Welcome this Sunday morning. Oh ye few,
But faithful. The choir, I am told, has been
Working diligently all week long under a
New director, Sister Mary Clarence, who will
Now lead them in sacred hymn. Sisters...]

NUNS:
I'll give you all I've got,
'cause nothin's as hot
As when you groove with me!
No, no, no, no.

DELORIS:
And when you strut your stuff,
And do your thing.
I just can't help surrendering!

DELORIS/NUNS:
You're so strong,
You're so sweet,
You're what makes me complete.
I just worship at your feet!

Take me to heaven,
Take me to kingdom come
I'll take any vow -

DELORIS:

DELORIS/NUNS:
Take me to heaven!
Take me to paradise!

Give me your healing touch
I need it so much!
(And, oh, it feels so nice!)
Just tell me what you want
I can't refuse
Day or night
I'm yours to use!
(I'll get on my
Knees -
Just take me please!)

DELORIS:
[If you like our sound, falks, shake your
Pockets to the beat! And toss whatever
You find in the offering basket, so we can
Keep giving the love to The Man Up Above!]

MARY PATRICK/NUNS:
Don't know how you do
What you do, (unh - unh)
It's like you're almost
Too good to be true (unh- huh)
You're my hope! (Hope!)
You're my dream! (Dream!)

DELORIS/NUNS;
You rock my world!
You reign supreme!

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
[Sister Mary Patrick, oh dear Lord! Mary
Lazarus! You know better than this!]

MARY LAZARUS/NUNS:
You put the boogie - uh! (uh!)
Into my soul!

You got the boogie - uh! (uh!)
Makes me lose control. (Beep beep!)

NUNS:
Hoo hoo hoo!

MARY ROBERT:
My booty's headin'
For a special place,
Where people shake it, baby,
Wrapped in love's embrace!

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
[No! Not little Mary Robert!]

PHOTOGRAPHER 1:
[Philadelphia Inquirer.]

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
[This is profanity!]

DELORIS:

DELORIS:
[Maybe so, but the crowd's eatin' it up!]

MARY PATRICK:
[Look at those tithings pour in!]

MARY LAZARUS:
[This'll save our parish, for sure!]

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
[Get out of my sanctuary!]

DELORIS:
[Back offa my stage!]

MONSIGNOR:
[Oh, sister - you do make a joyful noise!
And Reverend Mother - bless you for
Seeing the light. Sister Mary Clarence is
Our salvation!]

Fabulous Baby!
by Sister Act Cast

DELORIS:
Look at my style, could it be more glam?
Lood at my look, can you say, hot damn?
Look, an' at once, you know what I am:
Me, I'm fabolous baby!

KT:
[There she goes, fantamasizin' again.]

LAROSA:
[Baby, whatever you sniffin', I want me some.]

DELORIS:
Look at my moves, don't they blow your mind?
Drama, and talent, and sex - combined!
Hell, you could tell even if you're blind!
See? I'm fabolous, baby!

I'm meant to be where the spotlight shines!
Born to be on display!
Built to be dressed to the ninety-nines,
and ready to stand and say - hey.

Look at me!
Can'tcha see,
I'm fabolous, baby!
Look right here,
ain't it clear,
where I'm heading to?
And look at the time -
honey, I can't stay!
Look while you can,
'cause I'm on my way!
Me, I'm fabolous baby.
I got fabolous things to do!

KT:
[Where you goin'?]

DELORIS:
[Wherever it's happenin'!
New York, Vegas... Pittsburgh!]

LAROSA:
[Oh now we're talking' big-time.]

KT:
[Hello, Pittsburgh, I'm Deloris Van Cartier!]

Look at my boobs,...

LAROSA:
... at my clothes,...

KT:
... my hair!

LAROSA:
Look what's up here...

KT:
... and then look back there.

KT/LAROSA:
Look all you want,
I got lots to spare!

DELORIS
Just stand back and clear the track!
'Cause look at me!
Can'tcha see

KT/LAROSA:
I'm fabolous, baby!
(So fabolous, baby!)

DELORIS:
Check me out!
Ain't no doubt,
where this girl is bound!

So joke all ya want,
go ahead and laugh.
One day you'll beg for my autograph!
Oh, I'm fabolous, baby!

KT/LAROSA:
So damn fabolous, baby!

DELORIS/KT/LAROSA
Can'tcha see me lit up on a stage
as the cameras adore me! (Ah!)
Can'tcha see me out walkin' red carpets - or doin' TV? (Ooo!)
Can'tcha see all my millions of fans
screamin' desp'rately for me?
(D-e-l-o-r-i-s!)

I'm a diva, a goddess,
a star on the brink!
A house-rocking vision
in hot shocking pink!
A party! A riot!
The whole kitchen sink!
It's time for the world to find out,
don'tcha think? Wo-ho-ho
Look at me,
can'tcha see!

KT/LAROSA:
She's fabolous, baby!

DELORIS:
Yeah, I'm fabolous, baby!

Feast your eyes,
can't disguise
my star quality!
So laugh all you want,
I won't be denied.
What I have got is too hot to hide!
I am fabolous, baby!
So damn fabolous, baby!
I'll do fabolous, guarantee!
I'll be fabolous, baby,
fresh, free, fabolous, baby!
Fine and fabolous,
wait and see!

Here Within These Walls
by Sister Act Cast

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
Outside, life's a mess.
No one's pure of spirit any longer.
There's no wrong or right,
just wrong and wronger.
People have amused themselves
to death.
Outside, life is grim.
Filled with smut and scandal
to the brim.
I suppose there may be room
for Him -
Frankly, I don't plan to hold
my breath.

But here within these walls,
days are filled with grace.
God is in his place,
his wisdom still respected.
Here within these walls,
life has a different pace
from life beyond our doors.
And for what it's worth,
this life's now yours!

Outside all is vice.
People now are absolutely shameless.
Most, including those who shall
be nameless.
Hardly seem to know or even care.
Outside, all is sin.
And I won't have the outside
coming in.
Trust me, it's a battle you
won't win -
Frankly, dear, you haven't got
a prayer.

Here within these walls,
life is sweet and good.
Faith is understood,
and selfishness rejected.
Here within these walls
Work, prayer, and sisterhood
are what life's built upon.
That's how it will stay,
or else you're gone!

So put aside your gluttony!
Put aside your pride!
As for carnal lust,
you need a break, I trust.
Put it all aside!
Put aside interperance!
Profanity as well!
Put aside each remnant
of your former worldly shell.

MOTHER SUPERIOR/NUNS:
Here within these walls, (Ave)
all is stripped away.
Surrender and obey, (Maria)
that's all that is expected.
Here within these walls, (gratia)
all else is kept at bay.
Though the world may go astray, (plena)
here etenal truths hold sway.

Here within these walls, (Salve Regina)
Life is truly blessed! (Mater misericordiae)
Here you're God's own guest (vita, dulcedo)
celestially protected.(et spes nostra salve).
Here within these walls,
all's for the very best,
and always shall be thus
and if heaven's will be done,
here she'll just be one more nun, (Salve Regina)
Safe within these walls as one of us!
(salve, salve, amen.)

How I Got the Calling
by Sister Act Cast

MARY PATRICK:
When I was still a school girl,
standing just about yay high,
I saw the face of Jesus
in a coconut cream pie.
Next morning, there was Mary
in a bowl of special k,
and ten of twelve Apostles
in the salad bar buffet.
Now frankly, I'm an eater,
and I polished of Saint Peter
when my tummy sorta gave a little lurch,
and, I knew,
beyond all question,
it was more than indigestion,
and that's how I got my calling to the church.

DELORIS:
[You found God in junk food?]

MARY PATRICK:
[The Lord works in mysterious ways!
So I told mine, now you tell yours.]

DELORIS:
[Age before beauty.]

MARY LAZARUS:
[Death before dishonor.]
My mother kicked the bucket
in the flood of '38.
A falling Steinway piano
sent my father to his fate.
All twenty of my siblings
caught the plague, by some odd chance.
And something in the meatloaf
got my uncles and my aunts.
The town I lived in bit it
when a freak tornado hit it,
and the heartbreak took my dog to his reward.
And - I figured on reflection,
I could maybe use protection,

MARY LAZARUS/NUNS:
and that's how I got my
calling to the lord!
(how I got my
calling to the lord)

MARY PATRICK/MARY LAZARUS:
Yes, that was how I got the calling!

MARY LAZARUS:
And it was bracing -

MARY PATRICK:
But enthralling!

MARY PATRICK/MARY LAZARUS:
And I just knew I'd do as I was bid.

MARY PATRICK
I'd be overfed -

MARY LAZARUS:
And I'd be obviously dead -

MARY PATRICK/MARY LAZARUS:
So thank the Lord I got the calling when I did!

MARY PATRICK:
[Now you!]

DELORIS:
[No, them!]

MARY LEZIN:
The folks from 'Jews for Jesus'
stuck a pamphlet in my purse.

MERY CECILIA:
I heard a voice while playing
'Sargeant Pepper' in reverse.

MARY PETROC:
I prayed and then by goll,
my psoriasis was healed.

MARY ANTIOCH:
People always told me
that I looked like Sally Field.

MARY KATARI:
I had a revelation
when I skipped my medication.

MARY WILIGIS:
The outfit just did wonders for my frame.

ALL NUNS:
And, yes it may be odd
to get a wake-up call from God.
But in the end, I got the calling, and I came.
(I got the calling and I came)
And that was how I got the calling,
(La La La La La La )
And gave my life an overhauling
(La La La La)

MARY ANTIOCH/MARY PETROC:
And it was loud -

MARY MIGUEL:
And firm -

MARY JOSEPHAT:
And oh, so clear!

ALL NUNS:
Yes it's quite a jump.

MARY GENISIUS:
But I'd be lost -

MARY EMEBERT:
Afraid -

MARY PETROC:
A frump!

NUNS:
So thank the Lord I got the calling,
and I'm here!

MARY PATRICK:
[Saved the best-est for last-est!]

DELORIS:
[Oh, oh, she hasn't gone yet.]

MARY ROBERT:
[Oh no, not me, I can't - I didn't -]

MARY PATRICK:
[Mary Robert wasn't exactly called to the convent,
were ya, Mouse? Tell her.]

MARY ROBERT:
[Well...]
You see... I mean... it's kind of like, I -

MARY PATRICK:
came here as a tot.

MARY ROBERT
What I mean is...

MARY PATRICK:
left here at the door.
[Go on.]

MARY ROBERT:
And I don't know if I'm...

MARY PATRICK:
... supposed to be a nun -

MARY ROBERT:
or -

MARY PATRICK
not.

MARY ROBERT
It's...

MARY PATRICK:
hard to say, but after all,
that's what the call if for.

[Right? So! Spotlight's back on you,
sister. 'Fess up!]

DELOROIS:
[O-kay... Ah...]
Me and... sister sledge...
We had a ministry, I guess.
[Ah...]
Uh, working at our lady of...
perpetual... excess...
We'd go among the village... people...
everyday... well, night.
Lifting up the sinful
and helping the uptight.
Then suddenly one day
it was like, bang!
And right away I saw the light
and screamed "Sweet Jesus Christ"
and such
And... I asked to be secluded
in this hellhole just like you did.
And that's how I got the calling,
pretty much

ALL NUNS:
How she got the calling
pretty much.

DELORIS:
And that's is how I got the calling.

ALL NUNS:
It was sublime -

DELORIS:
and yet appalling!

ALL NUNS:
And it was oh, so right in all respects!
Aahhhh...

MARY MIGUEL:
Sweet as mountain honey -

MARY ADELARD:
and as wild as summer lightening -

MARY KATERI:
and as warm as woollen mittens -

MARY EMEBERT:
and so fierce that it was frightening -

MARY WILIGIS:
and as bright as new-cut flowers -

MARY LEZIN
and as swift as April showers -

DELORIS:
and orgasmic as a night of sweaty sex!
[I'm sorry, was that out loud?]

MARY PATRICK:
If it never came -

MARY LAZARUS:
If all our lives were just the same -

MARY PATRICK/MARY LAZARUS:
Well, heaven knows what might've
happened to us then...

NUNS:
But we got the calling.
Thank the Lord we got the calling.
We're so glad you got the calling,
amen!

When I Find My Baby
by Sister Act Cast

SHANK:
I know the way that she thinks,
I know her habits and kinks.
I know the staff she's all about.
I know the people she knows
at all the places she goes.
I know her up, down, inside out.
I know the needs that she's got,
I know what gets the girl hot.
I know I've got the inside track.
And yeah, I know she's upset -
Well, let her play hard-to-get.
'Cause if I know one thing,
I'm gettin' her back!

Because I know that girl!
I mean, I feel that girl!
I understand that girl!
And if I want that girl!
I'm gonna get that girl!
Ain't gonna let that girl get away!
No way!
And when I find that girl,
I'm gonna kill that girl!
I'm gonna wham! Bam! Blam!
And drill that girl!
Won't rest until that girl
is safe and sound six feet below - no!
When I find my baby,
I ain't lettin' her go!

SHANK/GOONS:
I bet wherever she's at
I bet she's trapped like a rat
and pacin' up, down, 'round
the floor. (Sure, sure.)
I bet she's startin' to sweat.
That gir is buggin', I bet.
Bet she's got one eye on the door.
(Tell us more!)
I bet she's missin' her gigs.
I bet she's missin' her booze,
I bet she's tearin' out her hair.
(Yeah, yeah!)
I bet she's missin' her fun,
and gettin' ready to run.
And when she does,
you bet I'm gonna be there.

GUYS/SHANK:
Because you know that girl!
(I know her!)
You she right through that girl!
(See right through her!)
You understand that girl!
(I understand what I)
And when you get that girl,
(have got to do to her)
you're gonna waste that girl,
('cause when I get her)
'cause you can't let that girl
(ain't gonna let her)
go and squeal. (squeal for real.)

SHANK/GOONS:
I'm gonna shoot that girl!
(shoot that girl!)
And then I'll stab that girl,
(stab that girl!)
and then I'll take her
(take her!)
and shake her,
(shake her!)
and make her meet her maker!
(meet her maker!)
Let 'em hide that girl
(let 'em hide that girl!)
sure as the tide, that girl
will show - Oh! (Oh!)
When I find my baby,
I ain't lettin' her go!

Yeah, yeah.
Oh yes, I know that girl!
(know that girl!)
And man, I need that girl!
(need that girl!)
I gotta have that girl!
(have that girl!)
So I can snuff that girl!
(snuff that girl!)
If I know my baby! (Ahhhh!)
She's already runnin'! (Ahhhh!)
That's how my baby
is gonna be done in!

I'm gonna drown that girl!
(drown that girl!)
Or disembowel that girl!
(disembowel that girl!)
Or give her skull a big dent
(Oooooh!)
with a blunt instrument!
I tell ya, soon that girl
(soon that girl)
is lookin' at a world of woe! -
Wo, (wo, wo ,wo!) wo, wo!
When I find my baby,
I ain't lettin' her go! (No!)
I know she ain't gone too far! (Oh!)
Go and check
each discothecque,
tavern and bar!
Go and find my baby -
(We'll find your baby.)
'cause I ain't lettin' her go!
(Ah! Oh no!)
Oh no!

Do This Sacred Mass
by Sister Act Cast

DELORIS:
[Now, who's been bad in the eyes of our Lord?
Well, it's time to come clean!]

First ya... sprinkle Holy Water -
then ya... wave the Holy Book -
then ya... do a special blessing -
and then ya shake around
your rosary
'til everybody bead is shook.
And shout hail Mary!

BIKERS:
Hail Mary!

DELORIS:
Shout our Father!

BIKERS:
Our Father!

DELORIS:
Better pray it like ya mean it,
or don't bother!

BIKERS:
Whooooo!

DELORIS
We ain't got them fancy wafers
butcha all can lift a glass
so raise your cup -

BIKERS:
Yeah!

DELORIS:
Drink up!

BIKERS:
Yeah!

DELORIS:
That's how you do the Sacred Mass.

MARY PATRICK:
Now let's exorcise the devil.

BIKERS:
The devil!

MARY LAZARUS:
Grind them demons in the ground.

MARY PATRICK
Grind 'em in the ground.

MARY PATRICK:
Next you baptize all the heathens.

BIKERS:
Baptize the heathens!

DELORIS:
And then ya do-si-do your partner
and you swing 'em all around,
and shout hosanna!

BIKERS
Hosanna!

DELORIS
Holy Moses!

BIKERS:
Holy Moses!

DELORIS:
Then ya strike a buncha
Catholic - lookin' poses!

BIKERS:
Whooo!

DELORIS:
If ya wanna free your conscience,
First ya gotta free your ass.
Now say amen -

BIKERS:
Amen!

DELORIS:
And then.
come on and do the Sacred Mass!

Lemme see the congregation
do some freestyle adoration,
just like baby Jesus commands!
Praise the Lord, then hallelujah,
grab whoever's closest to ya!
We'll do confession later,
but right now,
lay on those hands!

I Could Be That Guy
by Sister Act Cast

EDDIE:
[Sweaty Eddie.]
Sweaty Eddie!
All of my life,
that's what they've called me,
and that's what I've been.
The blur in the background,
the king of uncool.
The first at the office,
the last in the pool.
And it's tuae.
But what can I do?
Tell me, why can't she see
there's much more to me
deep within?
Picture a guy,
a knight in rhinestone armor.
Gleam in his eye,
a zillion-watt smile.
Sharp threads,
moves that get 'em starin'.
A turner of heads,
cool beyond comparin'.
Bringin' the pride
with a spring in his stride,
and a fistful of style!

And I...
I could be that guy.
I could be the cock of the walk,
and the talk of the town.
Leadin' the pack
when the action goes down!
Yeah, I -
I'll betcha I could set the
world astir.
If I only let myself try,
well, I could be that guy -
for her.

EDDIE/STREET PEOPLE:
Foolish, I know (oh, no!)
I've never been a charmer.
(Charm her, charm her, charm her)
Just can't let go - (ooh - let go!)
But if I could
I would show 'em, but good.
That I...
I could be that guy!
I could be the dude all in white,
bathed in light on the floor.
Livin' out loud
as the crowd shouts for more!

Yes, I...
I could holler "yes!" to destiny!
Time to step out.
No more fear, no more doubt.
It's time to grow some wings
and start to fly!

(Oh, I...)
Oh, I...
(I could be that guy)
I just gotta relieve
I just gotta, gotta,
(I could be that guy)
gotta believe.
(I could be that guy)
lf I'd only believe,
(I could be that guy)
if i'd only believe,
(I could be that guy)
that I...
Yes, I could be that guy!

I could be the cream of the crop
set to pop!
All the rage!
Blistering hot
in a spot center stage.
Yes, I...
I got what it takes (hey!)
to break away! (break away!)

EDDIE:
[Aw, who am I kidding? I'll always be
Sweaty Eddie to her.]

But before it's my time to die,
hell, I will be that guy,
someday.
Ooh, maybe someday...
maybe someday.

Raise Your Voice
by Sister Act Cast

DELORIS:
First rule of singin' -
Get the rafters ringin'!
Toss everything in -
dig down deep inside.
When you've got a song worth hearin'.
There's one thing to do -
just keep your fear from interferin',
and let that sucker burst through!

Raise your voice!
Lift it up to heaven!
Raise your voice!
Come on, don't be shy!
If you feel it, why conceal it?
Let your soul rejoice!
Raise the stakes!
Raise your game!
Raise your voice!

[Okay, now it's your turn,
who's gonna step up
and make some real noise?
Aah, now don't be tryin' to hide from me,

Sunday Morning Fever
by Sister Act Cast

MONSIGNOR HOWARD:
[Welcome back, faithful followers old and
new!
And now to raise the temperature
even higher,
we have a brand new hymn
by our very own
Queen of Angels - or
should I say
Disco Queen of Angels -
choir!
Hit it, sisters!]

DELORIS/NUNS:
Spread the news!
It's time to rock the pews!
We've got the sunday
morning fever!
It's a sound
that turns your soul around
until it makes you a believer.

Every priest,
every deacon,
everyone who feels the beat
starts freakin'.
Catch the bug!
Ride the groove!
Boogie 'til you feel your spirit move!
Come and get that
sunday morning fever.
Give the Lord a try!

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
[Queen of Angels is not your grandma's
church anymore. God help your
grandmother if it were.]

Everything that woman does
infects us more and more.
Things were bad the way it was,
but Lord, you're killing us with
the cure!

MONSIGNOR HOWARD:
[Welcome back, o multitudes! Our humble
sanctuary overflows with your fabulous
devotion! So, get down, get
down, get down
on your knees, and show the Lord
how deep is your love.]

MARY PATRICK:
Girls and boys, come make a
joyful noise
and do the sunday morning hustle!
Bump that thing in praise of
Christ the king
until you pull your pelvic muscle!

NUNS
Get confessed!
Get anointed!
Then get down
like you were double-jointed!

Feel the flow! Dig the scene!
Shake it like you're Mary Magdalene!
Come and let that sunday
morning fever!
Make your footsies fly!

EDDIE:
["By popular demand, Queen of Angels
Church has expanded to eight mosses per
Sunday, all fuelled by the high octane
choir direction of the fabulous sister Mary

Clarence." Deloris - what part of
"hiding out" don't you understand?]

This keeps goin'
and crowds keep growin' -
the word is gonna spread.
Every mention
just brings more attention.
And you won't be so fabulous if
you're dead.

ALL NUNS:
Now, put your hands in the air!
And wave 'em all around in prayer!
Let your funky behavior
show that you and the savior
got each other like Sonny and Cher!

MARY LAZARUS:
A hip, hop. A hippity a hippity
a ding dong dippity dee!
I'm a celibate sister,
but I'm hot as a blister
so hang onto your rosary!
Now I may be a fossil,
but my skills
are colossal,
and I rock the mig just like an apostle,
and I don't stop
'til your doubts go pop.
And I take you over the top!

We got Matt, Mark, (Matt, Mark)
Luke and John. (Luke, John)
Those guys are pros,
and that ain't no con.

So let's party on
'til the break-break-a-dawn
like a sanctifunkadelic
orgasmatron!

NUNS:
Get the vibe, make some noise!
Do the bus stop with the altar boys!
You can bet that
sunday morning fever
is the reason why!

MARY ROBERT/NUNS:
(Aw - beep beep!)
Dudes and chicks, (beep deep!)

whip out your crucifix,
(toot, toot)
and join the sunday celebration!
(uh-huh! Join the celebration!)
Genuflect, (toot, toot)
Give God his due respect.

(Beep, beep)
Then put your backside in rotation!
(Well, well, well, well)
Raise your hands! (Uh-huh!)
Get them clappin'! (Uh-huh!)
And you'll see that miracles can
happen! (Aw - beep, beep!)

MONSIGNOR HOWARD:
[Sisters, sisters! I bear remarkable news!
A miracle has happened! Bishop Donahue
read last week's newspaper article about
our choir...]

NUNS:
Ooh!

MONSIGNOR HOWARD:
[No, no, no... Wait that's not the news!
He called
Archbishop Narsutis, who colled Cardinal
McCanna, who has invited us to sing
this week...]

NUNS:
Ooh!

MONSIGNOR HOWARD:
[Uh uh hum, uh uh hum let me finish! He has invited us to
sing this week for a special visitor... a very
special visitor from the Vatican!]

MARY PATRICK:
[You mean the Po-ho-ho - the Po-ho-ho -]

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
[Calm down, sister! You mean the Po-ho-ho -]

MONSIGNOR HOWARD:
[That's right - can you believe it?
The Po-ho-ho himself!]

DELORIS/NUNS/CONSTRUCTION WORKERS:
Praise the Lord! Join the flock!
Party 'til you make the cloister rock!
Won't regret that sunday
morning fever -
Kiss those sins goodbye!
Fill the church! Pass the plate!
Everybody transubstantiate
come and get that sunday
morning fever.

Supernatural high!
Mass appeal was never so real
and can'tcha feel that sunday fever...

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
Just imagine what the Pope
will make of them!
Every sequined booty-shake
of them.
Let us pray he isn't too censorial,
and that somehow God's trae
glory'll rise.
Sunday fiver rise!

EDDIE:
Cool it down,
ya gotta promise me ya will.
Or you'll blow it, guarantee ya will.
And the odds that Shank will see
ya will rise.
Sunday fever rise!

MONSIGNOR HOWARD:
Good Lord!
Thanks to you!
All this, right in front of our eyes.
Sunday fever rise!

NUNS/WORKERS:
Rise! Rise! Rise! Rise!
Rise! Rise! Rise! Rise!
Thank God it's sunday!
Sunday fever rise!

Lady in the Long Black Dress
by Sister Act Cast

ONES:
[What's happenin', sister? Yeah, I'm talkin'
to you. My name's Bones. I'm a Libra, a dig
sunsets, strolling on the beach, and loving
my neighbor as myself. And right now,
baby, I'm standing next door to you.]

Picture you and me one
sweet, sweet night
in a pool of votive candlelight.
Just one thing could make the
mood more right -
God droppin' in to sing like
Barry White.
Hey, lady in the long black dress,
let's give you something to confess.
Wo oh oh! Hey lady, take a good long glance.
I ain't no pastor -
I'm a stone cold master of romance!

TJ:
[That ain't no way to get a lady, honky.
Here's how you talk to a sister: ave, baby.
My name's TJ, scorpio. An' lemme quess,
virgo, right? Well put away that rosary,
girl, 'cause I'm here to sweep you off
your knees and take you to a place I like
to call TJ Town. So...]

Loosen up those vestments, just a bit.
Drop that Bible, baby yeah, that's it.
See, I know what all your
vows permit -
and I don't mind keepin' it
immaculate!

TJ/DINERO/BONES:
Hey, lady in the long black dress,
(hey! long black dress)
let's sneak away and go transgress.
(go transgress)
Wo oh oh! (wo, wo)
Hev lady, why not (hey lady, why not)
take a chance? (take a chance?)
Come on, proud Mary,
meet your missionary of romance.

DINERO/TJ/BONES:
Why not lose that veil and
wimple, baby!
Have some sacramental wine!
Let me lay it on ya simple, baby -

BONES:
Sister, you know I gotta...

TJ:
so let me worship at your shrine.

BONES:
And if you got stigmata...

TJ/BONES:
show me yours, I'll show you mine!

DINERO/TJ/BONES:
Ay, mami, en el vestido
provocativo! (oh wo)
Porque es Cristo tu hombre
exclusivo?

TJ/BONES:
Hey lady, no more won'ts or can'ts!

DINERO:
Soy amoroso!

TJ:
I'm a virtuoso!

BONES:
And lf I'm just so so...

TJ/BONES/DINERO:

TJ:
sweet lady in the long, black dress!

DINERO:
Sweet lady!

BONES:
Sweet lady!

TJ/BONES/DINERO:
Please tell me what's latin for 'yes'?
Wo oh oh!
Hey lady, don'tcha look askance!
Come on, say hiya
to your love Messiah
and don't make me try a new advance.
Forget Jehovah,
'cause the wait is ovah.
Come to Casanova
for romance.

BONES:
[Man, we're smoooove!]

TJ:
[No nun can say no to us!]

DINERO:
[Vamos, hermanos! Al convento!]

Here Within These Walls (Reprise)
by Sister Act Cast

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
Outside, that's her place.
All in all, it's surely for the better.
Given time and prayer,
You'll soon forget her.
Still it won't be easy, I can tell.

Outside she shall go.
And somehow we will stumble
Through her show.
The pope won't be amused, but
Even so -
May he bless you all,
And her as well.

And here within these walls,
Once we're free of her,
We'll be as we were -
Completely unaffected.
Here within these walls,
Safe from the worldly stir,
We'll stay as God arranged.
She will be all right I'll pray.
Heaven speed her on her way.
But here within these walls,
We'll stay unchanged.

The Life I Never Led
by Sister Act Cast

MARY ROBERT:
I've never talked back,
I've never slept late,
I've never sat down
when told to stand straight
I've never let go
and gone with the flow,
and don't even know, really, why.
I've never asked questions,
or taken a dare.
I've never worn clothes
that might make people stare.
I've never rebelled,
or stood up and yelled,
or even just held my head high.

And all of the feelings unspoken,
all of the truths unsaid,
they're all I have left
of the life I never led.

I've never gone surfing,
or ran with a crowd.
Or danced on a table,
or laughed much too loud.
I've never quite dared
to leave myself bared -
I've just been too scared I might fall,
I've never seen Paris,
swum naked,
been kissed.
I've never quite realised
just how much I've missed
And what did I get
for hedging each bet?
Another regret, and that's all.
And all of the wishes unasked for,
All of needs unfed -
They're all that remain
of the life I never led.

And now...
now that you've given me one
little taste of it -
And now...
now that I know what I know -
Well how...
how can I go on ignoring the waste of it?
After all of the years
that I've clung to my fears.
Won't you help me let go?
Help me let go!

I want to be brave,
I want to be strong.
I want to believe
I'm where I belong.
To stand up and say
"I'm seizing the day"
To not just obey, but to choose.
And I may not surf,
I may not see France.
but I want to know
I still have the chance.
And maybe I'll make
a painful mistake.
It's mine though, to take or refuse.
And all of the doors yet to open,
all of the rooms ahead -
They're beaconing bright,
scary and new -
But I'm standing tall,
and I'm walking through.
What's gone may be gone,
but I won't go on
playing dead!
It's time to start living
the life I never led.

NUNS:
[Take me, take me, take me, take me, take me
take me, take me, take me, take me, take me]

DELORIS:
I've got my sisters by my side.
I've got my sisters love and pride.
And with my sisters here,
I have no fear -
I'm right where I should be.
And with my sisters in my heart,
I know we'll never be apart.
And no one on this earth
can change that fact -
My brave sisters,
my sweet sisters,
my strong sisters,
all my loving sisters -
I'm part of one terrific sister act.

The Life I Never Led (Reprise)
by Sister Act Cast

MARY ROBERT:
I've always been good,
I've always obeyed.
I've lived as you taught me,
I've prayed as you've prayed.
I've never one missed
A rule on your list -
I've done as a sister should do.

But now, I won't bend!
Now, I won't bow!
My sister's in need
Of a sister right now!

And I will not stay
And blindly obey,
And just turn away
From what's true.

You promised one day God
Would call me -
Isn't that what you said?
Well, this is that day,
This is that call.
I'm either a sister
Or nothing at all.
So I'm going now,
Or leaving forever instead.
It's time to start living
The life I never led!

All things being even,

Nothing matters more than love.

DELORIS:
Friendship and affection...
Real connection...
It's a gift from above.

MOTHER SUPERIOR:
Every song that we play -

DELORIS:
Every prayer that we pray -

MOTHER SUPRIOR/DELORIS:
Makes a bond in a way that's profound.

We're just here to spread that love all around...

Welcoming and sharing,

Don't just sit on the side,
go along for the ride -
With your heart open wide as it goes!
Let love's music fill you down to your toes!

And get up!
Get up and join the crowd on the floor!
Jump in!
Jump in, that's what your spirit is for.
Reach out!
Reach out, embrace the love thatcha found!
Then go ahead.
Let it spread all around!

Get down!
Get down, with all your heart and your soul!
Dance on!
Dance on, become a part of the whole!
Don't stop!

Spread it around!

DELORIS:
Once you start to spread it,
baby, if you let it.
Love comes right on back to you!
Passion and devotion,
real emotion -
Watch it come burstin' through!
So give in to the beat,
and get knocked off your feet -
Let it sweep you completely away!
