A cold, blanket of dark wraps the calm sky
A million holes on a shadow of dusk
With each freckle of light making its way through the miles of
Blank and negative space, setting a trail through dust
Each shimmering flame holds its own set of
Layered rocks, orbiting in ellipses while
Somewhere off in the distance, a fire's reached the end of its time and stuttered out of existence
You wouldn't know, looking out at the night
But somewhere hiding in the empty was the wonder of life
Whose source of light was a star, that had lived a burning infinite years
And died violently before it hit our field of sight
A perfect, calamitous storm exploded into the most destructive force known in the sky
Could be that one star you're staring at for comfort
Having lived a cycle eternal before it entered your eye
WE'RE SEARCHING FOR MEANING
IN A WORLD OF DISSORAY
WE'RE REACHING FOR HEAVENS LIGHTS BUT THEY'RE NOTHING
BUT STARDUST
No limits to the way the brain can dream & ever brilliant the sparkle of an endless scene
And something's waiting in your mind because it wants to be woken
But the right words might never be spoken
Can we open up our eyes to skies & just count them all
Or fall subservient to one we never saw?
The call's ringing in the night through the breath that we take up
It's begging with you, pleading, but you're not gonna wake up
Can you open up your eyes?
Can you open up your mind?
Can you see that we're born of stardust?
And do you hope in despair?
Do you pray god is there somewhere in this world of disorray?
WE'RE SEARCHING FOR MEANING
IN A WORLD OF DISSORAY
WE'RE REACHING FOR HEAVENS LIGHTS BUT THEY'RE NOTHING
BUT STARDUS
