5 o'clock wake up on a Tuesday morning
He looks out the window, it's still dark and it's pouring
Heaven knows he don't wanna work today
But he's still got a stack of bills that ain't been paid
He throws on his boots and fills his coffee cup
Puts on his jacket and climbs in the cab of his cup
He fires it up
He turns the radio up
He takes a sip from that cup
And he's off to do what he's gotta do
I said a man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do
He'll work for dirt just to be sure that he's sliding through
He'll shoulder the load, work his fingers to the bone
I said a man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do. Yeah
Two jobs, no help and two mouths to feed
Doing everything she knows just to make ends meet
Comes pulling in just in time to see the sunrise
She puts on a smile. Kisses her kids. Hides that hurt in her eyes
She takes off her work shirt, tosses it in the wash
There's no time for sleep cuz it's her only day off
She's still gotta clean her place
She's still got breakfast to make
She's still got laundry for days
And she's still gotta do what she's gotta do
I said a woman's gotta do, what a woman's gotta do
She'll work for dirt just to be sure that she's sliding through
She'll shoulder the load, work her fingers to the bone
I said a woman's gotta do, what a woman's gotta do
I said we all gotta do, what we all gotta do
We'll work for dirt just to be sure that we're sliding through
We'll shoulder the load, work our fingers to the bone
I said we all gotta do, what we all gotta do
