The Evangelist
Come to me in the dead of night and you're wound up tight and you tell me what it's all about
You say you're in the with-it set, that you're hail well met but there's things that you could do without
You're laughing all hysterical it's a miracle you ever stay within your skin
Whether working for the front row seats or the city streets performance ready to begin
Does this seem like a democracy or a fallacy, these are questions put to me by you
Are we living in anxiety or do you feel free to do the things that you want to do
You tell me where I'm going wrong, ask if I feel strong
Enough to swim against the scene
As we navigate the day ahead are we live or dead or somewhere missing in between
You're the evangelist,
Tending your flock,
The judge and the jury sit,
I'm in the dock,
Is this reality,
Or is it a game,
Is everything different
Or is it the same
You're well informed you say it will be okay if I follow like you tell me to
You'll point the way for me so that I can see things better from your point of view
Saying I should have no fear that the time is near to pin your colours to the wall
Constantly we turn our face but should we embrace the pride that comes before the fall
You're the evangelist,
Tending your flock,
The judge and the jury sit,
I'm in the dock,
Is this reality,
Or is it a game,
Is everything different
Or is it the same
Come to me in the dead of night and you're wound up tight and you tell me what it's all about
